Vintage Italian Louis XV Armchair

A romantic vintage Italian armchair in the Louis XV style, made in Italy — the original maker's tag is still attached beneath the seat (Registry CA-30872 (IT)).

The carved wood frame, in a warm walnut-toned finish, carries a floral-carved crest, scrolled arms with padded manchettes, a serpentine front rail, and graceful cabriole legs. The seat, back, and arm pads wear their original floral tapestry — cabbage roses and garden flowers in blush, mauve, butter yellow, and sage on a cream ground — finished all around with brass nailhead trim.

A lovely single chair for:

• A bedroom corner or dressing table
• A reading nook
• A living room that needs one romantic piece
• French country, English cottage, and collected traditional interiors
