Vintage Swinnertons Olde Alton Ware Blue Pagoda Platter | English Blue & White Chinoiserie Transferware

A beautiful piece of chinoiserie English blue-and-white transferware, this vintage Olde Alton Ware oval platter by Swinnertons of England features an enchanting chinoiserie landscape surrounded by an elaborate cobalt blue floral border.

At the center, a romantic garden scene unfolds with traditional pagodas, an arched bridge, a sailing boat, birds in flight, flowering trees, and lush botanical details. The richly patterned border features delicate blossoms and scrolling foliage, creating a striking contrast against the warm ivory ground.

The intricate blue transfer-printed decoration captures the timeless beauty of traditional English pottery and the enduring appeal of Asian-inspired European decorative arts.

The Olde Alton Ware collection is associated with the historic Staffordshire pottery tradition, and its Blue Pagoda design reflects the enduring popularity of chinoiserie in English ceramics.

A lovely addition to a curated collection of antique and vintage blue-and-white china, this platter is especially suited to traditional English country, grandmillennial, French country, and collected coastal interiors.
