18th Century George III Bachelor's Chest

This authentic George III period English provincial chest of drawers dates to the late 18th century (circa 1770–1790) and features a rare seven-drawer configuration (3 small drawers over 2 medium split drawers over 2 full-width long drawers). Standing at a highly coveted, low-slung height of 34 inches on classic bracket feet, this versatile statement piece offers the perfect scale for a modern entryway console, bedroom dresser, or a media credenza beneath a wall-mounted television.

Masterful Historic Craftsmanship
The exceptional, bench-made construction serves as definitive proof of this chest's heritage. The drawer linings are crafted from authentic, heavy, quarter-sawn English oak — a hallmark of period British craftsmanship. Pulling the drawers out reveals razor-thin, hand-cut "London style" dovetails and faint hand-scribed tool marks left by an 18th-century cabinetmaker. The exterior primary wood showcases a warm, deep honey-amber patina with gorgeous natural grain variation.

Condition Report
Good antique condition consistent with over 240 years of age and utilitarian use. The exterior has been cleaned and lightly conditioned to preserve its magnificent, authentic patina. The drawers feature honest historic wear, including natural oxidation and smooth friction rounding on the runners—the perfect, un-fakeable "fingerprints" of genuine antiquity. All drawers glide smoothly and are structurally sound. Features original style brass batwing pulls and bail handles.
