Antique Victorian Walnut Marble Top Parlor Table | Renaissance Revival Eastlake Side Table | Circa 1880

A remarkable late 19th-century Victorian Eastlake walnut parlor table featuring an intricately carved architectural base and beautifully veined white marble top.

Dating to approximately 1870–1885, this table is a wonderful example of Victorian craftsmanship, combining the geometric, incised decoration associated with the Eastlake movement with the more elaborate architectural forms of Renaissance Revival furniture.

The sculptural walnut base is particularly striking. Four architectural supports surround a substantial turned central column, accented by decorative spindle work, incised geometric carving, scrolling brackets and gracefully shaped feet. Small porcelain casters allow the table to be moved while preserving its wonderfully elegant Victorian profile.

Above sits a substantial rectangular white marble top with soft gray veining, rounded corners and a molded edge. The pale natural stone provides a beautiful contrast against the warm walnut and gives this 19th-century piece a surprisingly fresh appearance in contemporary interiors.

Originally designed as a Victorian parlor or occasional table, its 30-inch height also makes it particularly versatile today. It would be beautiful as an entry table, center table, library accent, large side table, bedside table or sculptural statement piece.

CONDITION

Very good antique condition with wear consistent with approximately 140–150 years of age and use. The walnut retains a warm aged patina with expected surface wear, marks and variations to the historic finish. The marble displays beautiful natural gray veining along with age-related surface variation and small marks/discolorations visible in the photographs.

Please review all photographs closely as they form an important part of the condition description.

A beautiful surviving example of late Victorian furniture — ornate enough to function as a statement antique, while the warm walnut and clean white marble make it remarkably easy to incorporate into a modern, traditional, coastal or collected interior.
